Overview

Dominique Caldwell guides clients through labor and employment and complex commercial business disputes, assisting businesses, organizations, and individuals in resolving a broad range of commercial litigation matters.

In labor and employment law, Dominique resolves sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims under Title VII and the ADA, as well as wrongful discharge and breach of contract disputes under state law. She counsels clients on employment policies and best practices, guiding them through internal investigations, employee discipline, terminations, and alternative dispute resolution. Her meticulous case preparation and comprehensive approach ensure clients are fully supported from initial consultation through final resolution, minimizing risk and maximizing favorable outcomes.

Dominique also defends licensed professionals and specialty licensing facilities, including law enforcement agencies, childcare facilities, nursing homes, and other skilled care providers, against professional malpractice, serious injury, and wrongful death claims. This includes defending high-visibility clients in complex administrative and legal proceedings both in and out of court. Additionally, she represents commercial property owners and hospitality entities in human trafficking-related premises liability lawsuits, where she thrives on developing novel legal strategies in this evolving area. Her practice combines acute risk assessment with exercised defense tactics and creative problem-solving to achieve the best possible results for her clients.

Before joining the firm, Dominique served as a prosecutor in North Carolina’s 26th and 22nd Districts, trying over one hundred complex criminal cases and leading numerous jury trials. This prosecutorial background sharpened her courtroom presence and strategic thinking, giving her a distinct advantage in myriad types of litigation. Clients appreciate her straightforward counsel, grounded in courtroom-tested instincts and calculated assessment of risks and opportunities, allowing them to navigate difficult situations with confidence and clarity.

As Pro Bono Coordinator for the firm's Charlotte office, Dominique is passionate about civil and human rights, social action, and serving children in her community. She volunteers with a variety of pro bono and community service initiatives throughout the greater Charlotte metro area. Dominique is also active in her church's student ministry, where she mentors middle and high school students through faith-based fellowship, activities, and service opportunities. In addition, she serves as a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters, further demonstrating her commitment to supporting and empowering young people.
