Overview

Overview

Established in 2023, O’Hagan Meyer’s Columbia, Maryland office strengthens the firm’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic region with a focused practice centered on complex civil litigation and professional liability defense. The office is led by experienced partners with decades of trial and appellate experience, particularly in the defense of architects, engineers, and other design professionals. Attorneys in the Columbia office handle professional negligence claims, construction and contract disputes, premises and products liability matters, insurance coverage issues, and appellate advocacy, regularly representing clients in Maryland state courts and federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and District of Columbia.

The Columbia Office’s practice is closely aligned with industries and professionals operating in regulated, technically complex environments. The team represents design and construction professionals, utilities and utility-adjacent entities, underground utility locating companies, community associations, insurers, and businesses facing commercial and employment disputes. In addition to litigation, Columbia attorneys are actively involved in risk mitigation and front-end counseling, advising clients on contract drafting and negotiation, project risk allocation, and proactive strategies to reduce exposure before disputes arise. This dual focus allows the office to support clients both when claims emerge and long before litigation becomes necessary.

This office serves clients throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., with attorneys licensed across all three jurisdictions. Their multijurisdictional perspective enables the team to manage matters that cross state and regulatory boundaries while remaining grounded in local practice.
